Details of the Post
On July 13, a question was posed on X asking users what they would remove from the world if given a chance. Dr. Upadhya responded with “Muslim community,” which led to widespread outrage on social media.
Doctor’s Response and Claim of Hacking
Following the backlash, Dr. Upadhya deleted the post and claimed that his account had been hacked. He stated, “I had stopped using Twitter a few months back and realized something unwanted was posted. Someone was using my account. I have changed my password, login details, and everything related to the account. My account was hacked. Apologies to all here.”
Despite the post’s deletion, screenshots circulated widely, prompting social media users to demand action against the doctor. In response to the public outcry, the Udupi town police filed a suo motu case against him.
The Udupi district police have initiated an investigation into the matter to verify the claims of hacking and assess the validity of the allegations against Dr. Upadhya.
