ABOUT THE INSTITUION
Established in 1999, K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) became a constituent college of Nitte (Deemed to be University) in 2009. Named after its founder, Late Justice K S Hegde, the institution is accredited by the National Medical Commission (NMC), New Delhi. KSHEMA is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year, highlighting its growth and development. The institution is dedicated to high academic standards and social responsibility, molding competent professionals with ethical integrity. The affiliated Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, a 1200 bed NABH accredited multispeciality teaching hospital, provides excellent training to students of KSHEMA.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Psychiatry was established in 1999. The Psychiatry DNB program commenced in 2002 and spanned a year in duration. Since 2009, the department has been guiding interdisciplinary PhD Program of Nitte University. The postgraduate program (MD) in Psychiatry was introduced in 2011. The department has 40 IP beds with a dedicated de-addiction ward & Rehabilitation centre. The department also operates the Geriatric Daycare (KSHEMA Sandhya), Rural Psychiatry Centre at Nitte Village in Karkala, TCC, Rural Camps, Student Wellness Centre, and Community-based deaddiction Camps in collaboration with SKDRDP. It actively engages in regional, state, and national level educational programs such as CME, Conferences, Workshops, Guest lectures, Seminars and Quizzes to elevate clinical standards in mental health care. Furthermore, it offers clinical postings for students across various medical, physiotherapy, nursing (BSc, MSc, and PhD), MSW (Medical and Psychiatric Social Work) and MSc in Psychology streams.
ABOUT THE CME
On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebration of K S Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte, the Department of Psychiatry is organzing a two- day National level PG-CME. The theme of the PG-CME “Womb to Tomb: Unravelling the Journey of Psychiatry” illuminates the significance of Mental Health Care across different transitions of life. The PG-CME includes paper and poster presentations, panel discussions, seminars, debate, case based discussions and an Alumni meet. As a part of the psychiatric community, let us all join hands in exploring the journey of psychiatry

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT SUBMSSION OF PAPER/POSTER PRESENTATION
- Conference registration is compulsory for abstract submission.
- Abstracts must not have been previously presented, published, or accepted for publication in any medical journal.
- 3.Accepted categories for paper/poster include original article or case study.
- Abstracts for paper/poster should follow a structured format (Background, Aim, Methodology, Results, & Conclusion) and should be limited to 250 words.
- For Paper Presentation: All presentations are required to be made using Microsoft PowerPoint. Each presentation is allotted 6 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for discussion.
- For Poster Presentation: Physical poster display provisions will be available at the venue. Recommended dimensions for the poster are width 90cm and height 120cm, with a minimum font size of 32. Each Presentation is allotted 6 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for discussion.
- All submitted abstracts will undergo peer review and plagiarism check.
- The Scientific Committee will take the final decision on the study being presented as Paper/Poster. The same will be communicated via email to the participant latest by 15th July 2024.
- The decision of the Scientific Committee will be final regarding presentation of the sent abstracts. 9. Undergraduate students require a permission letter from the Head of the Institution for presentation.
- All abstracts should be submitted before 30th June 2024 via email to kshemawellbeing1999@gmail.com.
